How a fresh face in the IT space nailed their graduate recruitment campaign

Entering a tough market

Recruiting experienced technology talent is extremely competitive and expensive, which is why tech employers like Kyndryl have turned their attention to recruiting university graduates.

However, as the graduate recruitment market has ramped up in recent years, it's become increasingly difficult to hire technology graduates. This is a result of new employers entering the market, and employers hiring more graduates.

Kyndryl entered the graduate recruitment market this year with a new and exciting opportunity for tech talent. Radhika and Alissa, Recruiters at Kyndryl, were hungry for the challenge, but they were a little stuck on how to market themselves as an employer of choice and attract the applications they needed.

How did they do it?

Partnering with Prosple was an easy decision, as it allowed Kyndryl to feature on GradAustralia.com.au and partner sites that reach 2.2 million students annually. 

Working closely with their campaign manager, Radhika & Alissa chose a budget that they wanted to invest, based on the number of quality applications they needed. This enabled Radhika & Alissa to focus their time streamlining the recruitment process and preparing for their first intake.

What was the impact?

A six-week-long campaign resulted in 199 applications from technology students.

Alissa says, “We are so happy with the results! Out of the 199 applicants that we received we’re looking at just over 20 potential offers!”. 

By preparing for the campaign coming with an open mind, and understanding the importance of quality over quantity in applications required, Radhika and Alissa were able to run a successful campaign which resulted in Kyndryl being on track to try to recruit 20 graduates starting next year. Ten in the general graduate program role and ten in the technology part of their business. 

How to put yourself in the best position in the next recruitment campaign?

Plan ahead! The early careers space has quickly become a candidate's market, so preparation is key. Build a plan by understanding the volume and quality of applications you would need to successfully fill the positions you’re recruiting for.

Kyndryl, being new to this space, reached out for advice early and applied it even quicker with limited resources which led to an amazing result.
