I am Marlon, from Manila, Philippines. I'm currently taking Master of Sustainable Tourism Management at Central Queensland University. I am really passionate about Tourism because I really want to promote sustainable tourism and at the same to time protect tourist destinations especially in the Philippines because tourism industry in my country is facing a lot of issues like how will preserve and conserve the tourist destinations by having massive count of tourist in our country.
So far I have learned that Sustainable Tourist can reduce the impact of tourism in many ways by: informing themselves of the culture, politics, and economy of the communities visited. Like wise I also learned the importance and significance of having a balance sustainable tourism in different countries because tourism industry provides a large impact to the growth of every countries. It's like about 3% out of 9% GDP contributed by Tourism Industry aside from that it also provide employment to it's people.
I hope to do with my postgraduate qualification is to use my learning in regions and countries developing their tourism industry that produces significant impacts on natural resources, consumption patterns, pollution and social systems and that the needs for sustainable/responsible planning and management is imperative for the industry to survive as a whole. Also to apply the the knowledge that I have learned during my studies so I would be able to not only to my country but also the different countries who's facing tourism problems and by that I know my self I am fulfilling my dreams a little by little. Aside from that I hope to do with my postgraduate qualification is to be a part of one of the biggest universities in Australia where as I can be a professor so I would be able to share my knowledge and skills.
