What's your job about?

Eclaro is an IT and business consulting company and has been operating and supporting clients globally. I am currently working as a Technical Recruiter under the Talent Acquisition – Philippines.

I am mainly responsible for conducting an end-to-end process of recruitment – from sourcing and interviewing candidates, endorsing profiles to clients, until extending job offers and on-boarding process.

I am mainly handling technical recruitment, and we source candidates for technical positions such as Software Developers, Software QA Analyst, and more. On a day-to-day basis, I get to talk to different applicants with different backgrounds and skill set, assess their interview performance and once pass, I endorse their profile for the next interview. If the candidate finishes and passes all the client interviews, I’ll be able to receive approval from the client to hire them, and I will extend the job offer to the candidates.

Being in the field of recruitment is not easy, but it is a very fulfilling career. I get to help people acquire a job, step-by-step. At the end of the process, either candidate gets the job or fails the interview, you’ll still be able to touch a part of them, and share knowledge that they’ll be able to use soon when needed.

What's your background?

I grew up in Caloocan City and have been residing in this city for 22 years now. I studied at the University of Caloocan City with a degree in Business Administration major in Human Resource Development Management. I was once a scholar of CFC-ANCOP and have supported me since Pre-school until College.

Eclaro is my first company. I am very grateful that my recruiter saw my profile online and called me for a job opportunity. I was able to land a job that is related to my course and the best thing for me is that the office location is near to my area. Now, I have been working with Eclaro for almost 2 years.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Yes, but there are factors to consider. We accept career shifters from BPO industry. Most likely, CSRs and TSRs since they were exposed to communicating with people and as long as they have the perseverance to learn new skills and to acquire training.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

For me, the coolest thing about my job is I communicate with different types of people, EVERY DAY. I find it cool because I am learning from their experiences and knowledge as well. Knowledge for me is a treasure. Most of our vacant positions are a bit technical and if I am not familiar with a certain technology or skill set, I kindly ask candidates to explain it during a phone call. Active listening is the key.

What are the limitations of your job?

Before landing your first job, you should always assess yourself if this is the career you want to pursue in the long run. My biggest limitation is Time management as it is very important when it comes to a job. Finishing your workloads within 8 hours could cause pressure, stress, and even anxiety. 3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...

I would love to go back in time and advise my old self these things:

  1. First, is to cherish every moment in college because it will only happen once. The good part of being a student is you have less pressure and fewer responsibilities, wherein if you are an employee, you are living a life of a competent adult.
  2. Second, is not to hurry and always give time to your friends and family.
  3. Lastly, is to follow every decision that you have planned and pursue it.

The life of an employee is way harsher than I expected. But as an adult, we will be able to learn to move forward in every happy, sad, and complicated situation we encounter. And the best thing that I have now are the lessons that I learned with those moments.
