There are people here that didn’t have a technical background before they joined the company but are excelling in being business analysts. I’ve found that if you are always willing to learn, and you’re confident to take opportunities to apply your skills, you’d be a good fit in the environment here.

What's your job about?

Equus Software is a company that excels in making global mobility management easy for clients and prides itself on providing its employees with amazing opportunities and a great working environment.

I am currently a business analyst in the Implementation Team, and some of my responsibilities include attending requirements gathering calls with clients and working closely with the internal team to deliver business solutions. On a daily basis, if I’m not working on configurations, I’m taking the time to go through our internal resources to learn more about AssignmentPro and PinPoint, or I’ll be giving out presentations to our clients.

In the year and a half that I’ve been here in Equus, I’ve really enjoyed my work – considering that I found a company that actually embodies its values and everyone that I’ve had the chance to work with has been approachable and great to work with.

What’s your background?

I grew up here in Quezon City, Philippines, and I finished with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science specializing in Game Development in the University of Santo Tomas. I did my best to be active in organizations and took opportunities to host a few seminars and events – it was my time in college where I realized that I had a passion for doing presentations and communicating with people.

When I graduated, I wanted to pursue a business analyst position in an established technology company, because I knew that it would provide me opportunities to give out presentations and that I’d be able to stay in the field of what I took up in college. However, I just couldn’t find a company that was willing to invest in me, as a lot of them were only looking for people with more years of experience. I accepted an Associate Software Engineer in a business process outsourcing company, and I left after a couple of months due to their working environment.

I’ve been with Equus Software for a year and a couple of months now, and I can only speak highly of my experience with the company. They deliver in providing me with tons of learning opportunities, and the people I work with are so approachable. Equus would be the perfect place to start a career for a fresh graduate, and it's an understatement to say that this is a great place to work in – it's rare to find a company that truly upholds and stands by its core values.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Definitely! There are people here that didn’t have a technical background before they joined the company but are excelling in being business analysts. I’ve found that if you are always willing to learn, and you’re confident to take opportunities to apply your skills, you’d be a good fit in the environment here.

The position is a bit technical, but people here are very approachable and more than willing to help. Other than that, there will be tons of opportunities for training and presentations where anyone will surely develop their technical and communication skills.

What’s the coolest thing about your job?

There are a bunch of things that are cool about my job. There are a lot of learning opportunities, and I get to work with different teams every day.  The working environment is great – everyone’s willing to help you whenever you need it. There are also opportunities for travelling to client offices in different countries, as well as the Equus office in Denver. Unfortunately, I joined the company during the pandemic, and I still haven’t been able to meet my co-workers physically. Even so, I already feel so welcome and I’m looking forward to working with them in person.

What are the limitations of your job?

I’m an Implementation Team Business Analyst, and I’d have to say that there are times that it can get difficult and challenging. The position is heavily client-facing, so you’ll have to learn to manage your team and clients’ expectations with what you can deliver. You must manage your time and workload responsibly. There are also internal learning resources which you should take advantage of whenever you need to learn about configurations, but you can still get stuck at a few problems. It’s important to remember that you shouldn’t shy away from asking for help from co-workers when you need it.

3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student…

Some of the things that I’d advise to a younger me would include:

  1. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. If you’re afraid of trying new things, you might not be able to find what you’d truly be good at.
  2. Take opportunities to develop your skills and believe in yourself. If you know what position you want to pursue after you graduate, don’t settle for anything less and do the best you can to gain the experience and skills that you’re going to need to get that position.
  3. Make sure that you find a hobby, and that you maintain your personal relationships. Life isn’t only about work, so make sure you find time to have fun, and to connect with your family and friends regularly.
