Masters (Coursework)
Recently, traditional great power rivalries have re-emerged as China and Russia have been increasingly contesting the existing world order, while non-traditional, human, societal and economic security issues have added considerable complexity to our understanding of security and stability. At the same time, our vulnerability to terrorist attacks has increased, and terrorists have acquired unprecedented destructive power. Governments and international organizations increasingly need analysts who have the knowledge, skills and creativity to understand complex geostrategic issues and complex terrorism systems, in order to engineer solutions. Our practice oriented double degree prepares you to analyse and make sense of contemporary security, strategic and terrorism challenges. You will learn about the dynamics behind major geopolitical and geostrategic issues and multidimensional non-traditional security and terrorism challenges, analytical methods to evaluate strategic choices, and the evolution of Australia's interests and grand strategy.
