What's your job about?
Bayer Business Services Philippines Inc (BBSPI) is the shared services arm of Bayer, a multinational Pharmaceutical company whose headquarters is in Leverkusen Germany. I am part of HR Operations team that is supporting Bayer Direct Services specifically for Learning and Training which recently go live last November 2020.
I am administrating all types of training and assist employees with their requests related to the said process. We are working with various stakeholders and counterparts on a global scale and maintain a good relationship at the same time.
What's your background?
My hometown is in Daraga Albay and I grew up and had my education there. I took up Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in Bicol University. Right now, I am living independently here in the Metro and established my career at the same time. I started as a Customer Service Representative in Sykes Asia Inc. (now part of SITEL Group) then had a background in HR Operations in IBM supporting Compensation and Benefits and Employee data management process. Prior to joining Bayer, I also became part of Sanofi Asia Pacific as a Talent Acquisition Coordinator doing end to end coordination tasks. I am happy that my experience is well rounded in terms of different HR facets but on a personal note, I just love to cook and have my dog always with me.
Could someone with a different background do your job?
Yes, definitely! In fact, most of us came from the Recruitment industry. We are part of the pioneer team that transferred the process from Germany to the Philippines, so we had a transition and proper training in terms of the end to end process. And we are happy to train anyone who will join our team in the future. Like in any job, you just need to become open to learning and adjusting to a fast-paced environment and of course enjoy working with various nationalities off and onshore.
What's the coolest thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is that I got a chance to work with different teams and employees in Bayer globally. From the stakeholders and counterparts to the employees that we are supporting because of the different types of training that we handle. And from there, I realize that the culture is great here in the organization because there is mutual respect and flexibility among people. Even If there is a lot on my plate the collaboration and ways of working of our team make the work a lot easier.
What are the limitations of your job?
As mentioned, the culture here in Bayer includes flexibility. We are free to choose the time we work 8 hours every day on a bracket they have provided but still depends on the business needs, especially if there are meetings, but we do not work on weekends. Since we are in HR, data privacy is very important as we handle sensitive information of the employees that we are supporting. We follow a specific process for this one. For example, if we are running a report or any document that has employee data, we make sure that it is password protected prior sending it to our stakeholders or counterparts.
